It is directed by Lawrence Blume, Judy’s son. It is a coming-of-age tale that’s full of emotions. Judy Blume has sold more than 80 million copies of her young adult novels since her first book was released in 1969.

Blume is a groundbreaker. Her books have been banned in several schools and libraries because of her raw approach to controversial issues such as teen sex, divorce, menstrual trauma, masturbation, racism, and bullying.

Tiger Eyes is the first of her novels to be adapted into a movie. Her books show how the minds of teenaged girls work. Maybe the interior monologues scare off the major studios away. Tiger Eyes is first published in 1981 and yet it maintains to be relevant in this time and age. Young girls can

Willa Holland plays Davey, a 17 year old girl from New Jersey. She is coping with the death of her father in a shooting robbery. Her mother Gwen (Amy Jo Johnson) goes into depression and has to take pills to calm herself. This is why Davey is the one who takes care of her young brother Jason (Lucien Dale).

You can feel the grief Davey tries to overcome as she tries to hold to the ground that keeps on shifting. A major change to her family comes when they move to Los Alamos, New Mexico. Davey is placed under the care of her mother’s sister Bitsy (Cynthia Stevenson) and her husband Walter (Forrest Fyre).

A new home means a new life for Davey and her brother. She meets a new friend, Jane (Elise Eberle), who has her own issues. Davey also meets Martin (Tatanka Means), a Native American who is also known as Wolf.

Just like Davey, Wolf is suffering as his father Willie (Russell Means) is battling cancer in the hospital. Russell is Tatanka’s real father and their scenes really invoke a believable father-son relationship. Russell died after filming Tiger Eyes.

Tiger Eyes is full of emotions. This is a breakout movie for Willa Holland. Director Blume does a good job of adapting his mother’s novel into the big screen. The movie really feels like the novel.

The retelling of the story of Superman, earned another $12 million from its screenings on Thursday night, bringing its total take for North America to $125 million.

Expectations prior to its debut were for box office receipts of between $75 million to as high as $130 million.

Movies about superheroes are what the summer box office is all about. Iron Man 3 has this year’s highest opening thus far and now Man of Steel is the second highest thus far.

Henry Cavill stars in the Man of Steel as Superman, while Lois Lane is portrayed by Amy Adams. The moves also grabbed the biggest opening ever for June taking that top spot away from the Toy Story 3, which earned just over $110 million in 2010 when it debuted.

In 2006, the last version of Superman, titled Superman Returns, which starred Brandon Routh, earned $52.5 million in its debut weekend.

Overseas, the Man of Steel also fared well, earning over $71.6 million in 24 areas. The movie will debut next weekend in another 27 areas including China and Russia. Also starring in the movie is Michael Shannon and Russell Crowe.

Taking second place this weekend was This Is the End, which debuted with a take of $20.5 million. The comedy stars James Franco, Johah Hill and Seth Rogen. Since its opening on Wednesday, the movie has earned over $32.8 million and had a budget of only $32 million.

Now You See Me, the illusionist heist movie in its third weekend earned $10.3 million to take third place over the weekend.

Taking fourth place was Fast & Furious 6, while the top 5 was rounded out by The Purge earning $9.4 million

The movie is a thriller that takes place during that time. It has an interesting story that has a surprising twist in the end. It is based on a 1998 novel by Tom Bradby, who is also the screenwriter of the movie. Directing the movie is James Marsh.

Shadow Dancer shows the ugly truth of the conflict. Clive Owen plays Mac, an MI5 agent, and Andrea Riseborough plays Collette, a reluctant Irish terrorist. Both actors give out compelling performances. Collette meets Mac when she is arrested after attempting to place a bomb on the subway in London.

Collette is not exonerated after she panicked and didn’t set the detonator of the bomb. Mac offers her to be a spy for the MI5 or face jail time and never see her son again. She accepts and goes back to Belfast. She starts sending intelligence to Mac through phone calls and meetings about the activities of Kevin (David Wilmot), a local IRA leader, and her two brothers who work for him.

Kevin becomes suspicious of Collette after she informs Mac of an IRA plot that only she and her brother (Domhnall Gleeson) knew about. Mac finds himself falling for his Irish spy especially after he finds out that his supervisor (Gillian Anderson) don’t want to remove Collette out of her assignment even if she has accomplished her required tasks.

Shadow Dancer is a complex thriller. It doesn’t distinguish who the good or bad guys are. At the start of the movie, Collette as a child witnesses an act of violence. Mac might be the closest personification of a hero to her but he is stained by working with people who are not idealistic.

Right from the start, there’s a sense of danger of someone getting hurt in Shadow Dancer. The movie delivers on the threat and it feels like the filmmakers are not interested on who is disciplined in the end, but on whether they deserve what they get.

The game was marred however, by teargas that was fired at protesters who were protesting outside the soccer stadium during the match.

Neymar, who recently signed a multi-million dollar contract with Barcelona, opened the scoring for Brazil after just three minutes of play with a sensational volley from 25 yards.

Brazil had other scoring opportunities in the first half, but did not net their second goal until just after the second half started. Paulinho scored thanks to a perfect cross by Dani Alves in front of the goal.

Brazil ended its scoring in stoppage time after Jo, a late substitute, was able to race onto a perfect pass from teammate Oscar and slot home the ball beyond the goalkeepers reach.

The affects of teargas caused thousands of fans to be treated by first aid personnel. Nevertheless, the Brazilian national team started their defense of the Confederations Cup in grand style. The Brazilians have won the last two consecutive Confederations Cups in 2005 and 2009.

Many consider this tournament to be a small prelude to next summer’s World Cup that will be played in Brazil.

Much expectation is centered on the young Neymar who is just 21 and a great deal of pressure was taken off his shoulders when he volleyed the ball home early in the match.

Many fans and soccer writers consider Neymar as the heir apparent to Lionel Messi of Argentina as the world’s best soccer player.

Sunday, Mexico is schedule to play Italy and Uruguay will take on Spain.

Director Zack Snyder said that Superman needed to be juiced up and roughen his good reputation. Together with producer Christopher Nolan, he comes up with Man of Steel. It feels like the franchise starts from scratch because it doesn’t have the humor and charm of the original Superman as well as the iconic performance from Christopher Reeve.

Henry Cavill dons the red cape in Man of Steel. He plays the role as if it has never been played before. His Clark Kent is a loner raised by his foster parents Jonathan (Kevin Costner) and Martha (Diane Lane). The story is still the same. Krypton is near its destruction and Jor-El (Russell Crowe) sends his son Kal-El to Earth in order to save him. General Zod follows the baby to take over the planet.

The storytelling of Man of Steel is not linear in nature. It starts with baby Kal-El in the lifeboat rocket and then shows 33 year old Clark working on a fishing trawler. It features flashbacks to fill up the rest of the story.

Costner gives a heartfelt portrayal of Jonathan Kent that lifts Man of Steel. As Jonathan, he tells Clark to hide his powers. In turn, Clark never smiles and doesn’t make any friends because of fear of becoming popular.

The Superman costume in Man of Steel is muted, just like the Clark character. He falls for Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane (Amy Adams) while looking for the codex that holds the key to global domination. Amy Adams is perfect for the role. Her Lane sees Clark’s secret alter-ego even with his glasses on.

Man of Steel is a rough rollercoaster ride with lots of computer generated effects. It has a lot of angst and action that is incomparable with all of the past Superman movies combined.

In a Manhattan federal court, Broadcast Music, Inc said in court documents that it had proposed a blanket fee for royalty it said was reasonable for the songs played on Pandora’s site, whose radio service is the largest on the Internet.

In court documents, Broadcast said Pandora had rejected its offer. The specific amount of the proposed fee for royalties by BMI was not mentioned in the filing.

BMI insists its fee proposal was in an amount that would be reflective of today’s explosive growth in the internet streaming marketplace.

BMI has over 600,000 publishers, composers and songwriters that it licenses rights for more than 7.4 million compositions. Included in that list of famous performers are Michael Jackson, Lady Gage, Eminem and John Adams.

Last November, Pandora filed suit against ASCAP or the American Society for Authors, Composers and Publishers seeking reasonable licensing fees to play the songs from members of ASCAP on their internet service.

The New York federal court already has approved rates for licensing between different performing rights groups and the licensing committee that is the representative for terrestrial broadcasters like CBS. Also covered in the rates in the agreements are Internet stations operated by the companies.

Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring is based on the real events involving a group of SoCal teenagers who robs celebrities such as Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan in 2008. They wear what they steal and document their crimes with selfies and uploading videos of their capers on YouTube.

The Bling Ring benefits from Coppola’s sensualist nature. Before they are caught by the cops, the group has stolen more than $3 million worth of drugs, money and high-end fashion. The break-ins look good thanks to the cinematography of Harris Savides. He died during the making of the movie and Christopher Blauvelt was tasked to complete the job, which he did well.

The celebrities are victims of the story even if they took some time to notice some of their stuff are missing. The screenplay is based on a 2010 article from Vanity Fair by Nancy Jo Sales but Coppola’s script is more attuned to the internal dynamics of the teens.

Emma Watson plays Nicki, an underage club girl. She wants to be an actress and embodies the narcissistic nature of a Valley Girl. The character is based on Alexis Neiers, who manages to get her own reality show after committing the crimes.

Other members of The Bling Ring are Nicki’s best friend Sam (Taissa Farmiga) and their mobile phone addicted friend Chloe (Claire Julien). Nicki’s mother (Leslie Mann) homeschools the girls and makes sure they take their Adderall.

Nicki is not the leader of the pack. That position goes to Rebecca (Katie Chang). She is a daughter of Korean immigrants who wants to achieve her dreams. She is aided by Mark (Israel Broussard), a computer geek who can find out when the celebrity is out of town.

The Bling Ring is about amoral teenagers looking for some type of intimacy. Coppola doesn’t blame the parents for the wrongdoings of the teens. The members of the group don’t envy the stars’ talent but rather their designer labels and fame.

LeBron James did not play well in the first three games of the series, at least not as well as he believes he could have played.

James told reporters before game 4 that he simply had to play better for both he and his teammates.

James had even worried about the same thing happening in this series that happened the last time the Heat played in Texas in the NBA Finals. Two seasons ago, Dallas defeated the Heat in the finals to take the NBA title.

Those worries went away as the Heat won game 4 on Thursday night 109-93 to tie the series at 2-2. James scored 33 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the game.

James and his teammates treated the game on Thursday as if it were an elimination game for them. If the Heat had lost, they would be down 3-1 with San Antonio needing only one win in the last three games to take home the title.

However, with the strong showing by James and his Heat teammates, the series is tied 2-2 and Miami has home court advantage once again, with two of the last three games of the series being played in Miami.

Game 5 is scheduled for Sunday. The pressure has now been put back on San Antonio, as they know to win the title they will have to win at least one more game on the road in Miami.

The movie is a raunchy, R-rated apocalyptic comedy that manages to tickle one’s funny bone. But it is far from being perfect. There are some moments in the film that are not that funny.

This is the End is not too consistent and feels a bit too long. When it tries to be funny, you can bet that you’ll find ourself laughing. It combines a hilarious bromance with a disaster movie. Seth Rogen, James Franco,Craig Robinson, Jonah Hill, Emma Watson, Jay Baruchel and Danny McBride play caricatures of themselves.

If you were disappointed with The Hangover Part III, then This is the End is the cure for it. The talented cast makes the movie a guilty pleasure. It is a mockumentary that allows the viewers to hang out with the cast members and their friends. The cameos are there not just to fill out the movie but they have a purpose in it.

The storytelling is good and well paced. It contains some crude humor but you should have already already expected them as this is a Seth Rogen movie. But I did find it to have too many male organ jokes. But overall, it is a fun movie about Hollywood stars hanging out.

Some disliked the improvised banters between the characters but those moments made viewers laugh. It is a clear case of you either love it or hate it. There will be no in between for This Is The End. If you love Seth Rogen’s humor then you will definitely love this one. Avoid this if you are a prude or a very religious person. IT is a movie you’ll watch if you need to relax and forget about the real world.

The Mexican-born actress said much of what she does regarding her dress is her way of trying to impress her husband, as she wants him to always have an attraction toward her.

Hayek is 46 and married to 51-year old Francois-Henri Pinault. The French billionaire is the CEO of PPR, the big conglomerate that owns Bottega Veneta, Yves St. Laurent and Gucci.

During an interview, the actress said she often wears leather while walking the red carpet because she knows how much her husband is fond of her wearing it.

When Hayek turned 40, she said she thought she would no longer be able to wear strapless dresses. In her mind, she did not think a woman at her age could wear them, but she said she is able to get away with wearing one even at 46.

The actress recently unveiled a new line of products specializing in skincare. However, she said beauty was not high on her priority list as some people might think it is for her.

Hayek said many people said she is beautiful but she had never attempted to be beautiful.

For her if she really wanted to be the most beautiful alive, than she would east less desserts, not drink any alcohol and do more exercise. Because of that, she feels beauty was not at the top of her priority less before or now.

She likes to explain to women that first they need to love who and what they are as well as do everything possible with what they have.
